Dieting was personal to me.
For the first time in my life I don’t fear gaining weight in the future. I’ve lost weight and am wearing my jeans from high school. To clarify, I was never “high school skinny” and my weight has always fluctuated. From a young age, I was fully convinced that I was fat. No one ever told me that or confirmed that, but I was certain. I wanted to join Weight Watchers or order SlimFast shakes because that sounded so easy.
In high school, I got my family to join a gym and was always cognizant of my weight. I started college as a nutrition major. I loved learning, and learning more about food and nutrients was helpful for me to turn a fixation into something beneficial in my life. I was always mindful of what I ate and have tried most every diet out there. Somewhat simple curiosity and love of learning, somewhat self-experimentation, somewhat trying to lose weight.
I am glad and grateful for the lessons I learned over the years. Self-experimentation can teach you so many things. While large-scale studies are great for looking at typical results in a group, most of us can learn a lot more by simply testing out what works for us individually. As a mom, it’s such a relief to not have to worry about dieting or my weight with everything else that is constantly running through my thoughts. Gotta say, not dieting is the best feeling. I’m never hungry (when I can help it). The food I eat makes me feel good. I can find something to eat anywhere. Drawbacks: I do go to the grocery store more because produce doesn’t keep, I pack a lot more snacks so I’m never forced to eat something I don’t want, just because I’m hungry. I spend more time making the foods I enjoy and prep my favorite things on repeat.
It’s about finding what works for you, so that you can create sustainable, healthy habits that last. I’d love to support you on your journey. Let’s connect!
